Preliminary Task

Reeces Evaluation

When creating our video, I feel that most things went well as we managed to complete filming in the time allocated and were left with ample time to edit. I feel that we all worked as a team and that we all had equal roles most of the time. However, there were times when some of us was not always on task, but I feel that we made up that time by eventually completing all the tasks.
When making our video, we faced objects such as not being always able to use the hall to film, as it was not always free. I also found different people being ill was an obstacle, as we could not therefore carry on filming as we all played a part in the film.
If I was to do this task again, then I would most definately plan our time more effectively and make a note of all the equipment that we need before leaving the classroom.
My most important piece of advise for others doing the same task, would be to use your time effectively and to enjoy the experience of making a film.

Torias Evaluation

The Plot
We started the project by coming up with an idea for the film. This was harder than we imagined and we took quite along time to get an idea. We finally decided on the story of a couple shopping and after the woman of the couple is very rude to the shop assistant, she shoots the customer. Killing her. We realise this isnt a very realistic plot but we thought it would be appropriate for our first piece as it is not too difficult.

The Roles
We decided that it would be easiest if we did the acting and directing ourselves to save time and effort. I did the filming in the begining scenes necause i wasnt acting but when i had to act in the second scene, reece did the filming.

The Location
We chose to film the scenes in a hall because we would have plenty of room and we were able to draw the curtains which set a good plain backdrop for our scenes. Filming in a hall also meant that we would have no disturbances and distractions which would happen if we chose to film it anywhere else.

Filming
This was the first time we had properly used camera equipment and we found it very difficult to get used to but after a while we got into the swing of it. We used a tripod to film the first shot and a dolly for the second shot so we could manouvre the camera to do a 180 degree angle.

We had to include shot reverse shot and 180 degree angle which was difficult but we knew what we were aiming for and with a little help we were able to do it and the result is very good.

Ellas Evaluation

To start our media film I found it quite hard to come up with ideas and to come up with an orgional story that was interesting. We did a story board to come up with some ideas but we couldn't think of anything. However, we chose a story in the end. We decided we would set the scen in a high street shop with a "rough" couple entering the shop and arguing. The play is about the couple walking into the shop and the shop assistant turning her nose up at them. She then decides to shoot the wife and that's where it ends. It was fun to act the scene out even though we had many attempts at getting it perfect. I think our play could have been a bit longer as it's only 47 seconds long but we didn't have time to make it longer as it took us so long to come up with film ideas and choosing the characters.

Overall, our group all contributed and we tried our best to act the scenes as realisitc and believable as possible. It was difficult setting the equipment up as I have never done it before but when I learnt it was quite simple to. It was also complicated working out where to stand and where to place the camera when filming the scene. We had to use 180 degree angle shot in part of our film and it took time finding out when we were going to use the shot. We decided to put the shot in when me (the wife looking in the shop) and Zoe (the shop assistant). I think this worked well and it came across as effective and professional.

We then needed to have a shot reverse shot which took time and effort to complete. It was difficult trying to find out where to stand to film this scene and when to pause the camera and then resume. After a few attempts we managed to accomplish this by looking exactly where the actors were standing and then seeing when we needed to pause and then start the filming again.

The video we did didn't really fit with the storyboard we completed so I think we did need to make the storyboard correct before we filmed our play.

I found the filming funny, especially when Zoe has to shoot me as we kept getitng it wrong and luaghing so we had to keep repeating the scene to get it right.

I thought the setting was good as it had clothes rails in it and a hat rack but we could have had a few more props to make it look more like a shop. There were also dinnerladies in the background which made the setting unrealistic.

After the filmimg we chose the music and effects for our film. It took us a while to find the right music as nothing seemed to fit with the scene we were acting out. Finally, we chose slow classical music in the background to contrast with the people in the scene. We decided only to have one sound which was a scream when I got shot. It looks funny and it sounds like someone is screaming.

In the future I will need to plan my actions and how I am going to act certain scenes out in the furutre because it will make the play seem more believable. I also need to think about specifically what I am doing and what the play is about. For advice to other people I would reccomend using dollys for the camera to let the film run smoothly and look professional.

Overall our play was funny to make and even though we didn't really have a set story at the beginning it still went ok and we tried our best to make it look professional. I enjoyed completeing this task over the few weeks we had to do it.
